How to keep your Hypoallergenic Siberian Cat cool in Summer?
When summer arrives and the temperature rises, we have to prevent heat stroke for our Siberian Cat. They don't cool down like people, cats sweat through their paws. Their temperature goes down by licking themselves and letting the saliva evaporates.
Your Hypoallergenic Siberian Cat needs a cool place to lie down and relax when they get too hot. Other ways of helping your cat being cool are:
Keep your cat calm. Encorage your cat to calm down, don't make him running too much during hot days.
Place one or more fans around home at the floor level. Your cat will find the perfect spot to lie down.
If you are lucky and have air conditioning, just use it.
Change their water bowl several times a day, keeping it always fresh and clean. You can even put some ice cubes into the bowl. And provide free access to it during 24 hours a day.
Open a couple of cat safe windows and let the fresh air move around the house.
Let your Hypoallergenic Siberian Cat play with water. Remeber this breed likes enjoying water! ;-) Wet him and provide water games.
Place a couple of wet towels on the floor. If your cat needs it, he'll lie down on them. It depends on how hot he is you'll even see him rolling on their back.
If goes outdoors, make sure your garden has enough shady spots for your cat to enjoy.
Brush your Siberian Cat often, daily if possible, to remove loose fur. This way you'll allow air to flow freely through it.
You can shave his belly when summer arrives. This way your Hypoallergenic Cat will stay cooler lying on the floor.
Give your Hypoallergenic Siberian Cat some extra space at home during summer time. Some cats love to curl up in the bathtub or in the sink. They are very fresh spots.
Create cool games. Cats love playing even in hot days. Place a couple of ice cubes on the floor and enjoy watching them play with it. They will lick it and will keep cool.
Some of the symptoms of a heat stroke are dehydration, panting, hyper salivation, respiratory problems, vomiting, diarrhea, cardiac arrhythmias and even death. If you notice any of these symptoms, please go immediately to the vet, your Hypoallergenic Siberian Cat needs special attention. Meanwhile do your best to lower his temperature before you get there. And remember, never immerse your Siberian Cat in ice.
